What is food and nutrition to your own definition? I like to define food as a matter which nourishes the body and Food may also be defined as eaten or drunk, which meets the needs for energy, building, regulation and protection of the body. Intake of the right type and amount of food can ensure good nutritional and health which are evident in our appearance, efficiency and emotional well being.
Nutrition are the components of food that are needed by the body in adequate amounts in order to grow, reproduce and lead a normal healthy life. The basic four basic nutrients of building a good diet are : Water, Carbohydrates, Proteins and Fats. By choosing the healthiest form of each of these nutrients and eating them in proper balance portion – you would allow your body to function at its optimal level. The nutritional status – is the state of the body as result of food consumed and their use by the body and it can be good, fair or bad.
Good Nutritional Status –is defined to have an alert, good natured personality, well developed body, firm muscles, clear eyes, smooth and glossy hair and excellent general health .
Poor Nutritional Status – is evident by the listless of irritable personality, undersized poor developed body, flabby muscle, lustreless and rough hair, lack of vigour and endurance for work.
