AYURVEDA CLEANSE – Adapt to Modern Living

AYURVEDA CLEANSE – Adapt to Modern Living

In our earlier topic about “Facts that alter our health”, I wrote about toxicity build up in our body through sources such as intake of food, inhale of polluted air, stress, etc. You can’t quite put your thoughts on what is wrong? On certain days you feel lousy is becoming a norm – giving yourself many reasons of why you feel bad and you tend to ignore your own body’s alarm bells. It never come to anyone’s mind that our own digestive/metabolic fire – agni, in Sanskrit, is imbalanced. Once our agni is impaired, our overall health suffers. And while there are many ways to support our agni, a cleanse is one of the most simple and effective means available. Done correctly, a cleanse might strengthen our agni and improve our food absorption, helps to eliminate toxic congestion and thus helps to initiate a good process of renewing and healing our body.

In our earlier advise on types of cleanse – pancha karma is our Ayurvedic signature cleanse and this involves the guidance of a qualified Ayurvedic practitioner. However, listed below are some brief description of several approaches to cleansing – mostly from the basic methods which you can do from home.

  1. Oil Pulling –cleanse and eliminate bacteria
  2. Weekly Cleanse – target your colon
  3. Enemas – cleanse and nourish
  4. Fasting – good for the mind and let the body heal
  5. Pro-biotic Intake after Cleanse – nourish our gut flora
[ Take note that weekly cleanse, enemas and fasting methods are contraindicated for all types of rectal bleeding, severe anaemia, breathlessness, diarrhoea, diabetes, pregnant women, having your menstruation, haemorrhoids and rectal bleeding, piles, weak person, peritonitis, urinary disorders, intoxicated state, internal obstruction, too tired. If in doubt, consult an Ayurvedic practitioner for advise.]
