Many times we often hear of friends or relative who suffers from Stage 4 breast, uterus or ovarian cancer upon diagnosis. And these diagnosis are happening not only to elderly women who had menopause but to very young females who are at child bearing ages. Is this a genetic disorder? How do we care for ourselves so that we are not burden with this disease when we have a family to care for?
Some factors to consider:
- Many times females of child bearing age should have regular check up by a gynaecologist if they have any menstrual issues.
- Mothers should always have regular check up and have pap smear test regularly to check on their health status of their reproductive organs. And if you are using contraceptives, understand the side effects of the long term used of these contraceptives for example the use of IUD, contraceptive pills, Hormone Replacement Therapy Prescription. Monitoring your monthly menstruation cycle is necessary to understand your own health related issues better.
- Take note that if you are on long term antibiotics, keep a look out for yeast infection at your private part. And you may infect your partner if you have not taken any precaution or vice versa the same with your partner if they have infection. Hygiene is a key issue to prevent any transmission of diseases of the reproductive system.
- Practise safe sex by having just one partner and not multiple partners.
- If you are anaemic after your monthly menstruation, whereby you may feel weak, dizzy, fatique, lost of interest in your work and family- then you need some rejuvenative herbs regularly to maintain your health condition and to see an ayurvedic practitioner to understand and guide you to rectify your health issues.
- Do you regular self breast examination procedure regularly. At times, going for a mammography is much encouraged but how often and discipline would you be doing it when you can actually do a regular self breast examination that I have described in full detail below. This can be done on a weekly basis during your shower or bath and you can actually have a good sense and a feel if there is any lump or tissue growth in your own breast after each self examination. Each mammogram is a radiation process which also kills a lot of your body cells and we try to avoid this process if we can.
- Most health issues pertaining to the female reproductive system are hormones related. And the main cause of hormone related diseases are diet and lifestyle.
