- Hyperemesis Gravidarum – excess vomiting due to hormonal changes. Seen normally in the 1st trimester. When this happends, we would need to keep the mother to be well hydrated.
- Placenta Praevia – abnormal location of the placenta
- Localised lesions( from polyps, erosion, cancer)
- PET – Pre-eclampsia toxaemia – an elevation of the expectant mother’s blood pressure. Common in women over 35years old and in primigravidae
- Odema – general swelling in whole body.
- Uncontrolled diabetes
- Chronic Constipation
- Antepartum Harmorrhage
- Ectopic Pregnancy – implant of fertilised ovum other than the uterus.
Ayurveda practise do have prescription for women who are pregnant to have some good rejuvenative herbs to assist and to reduce the chances of some of the above health issues and this is depending on the personal women health issues before they got pregnant. For some of the chronic health issues eg ectopic pregnancy will require immediate surgery as this is consider as an emergency case.
Ayurveda recommends that before the couple decides to have children, they themselves must have time to go through the procedure of cleansing and detoxification and rejuvenation before the woman gets pregnant. This is to ensure that the man will have healthier sperms and the woman will have better immune system, balance of good health to conceive a healthy foetus.
